Patiala School for the Deaf

    • Education is provided in a scientific manner by trained staff. Proper audiometry tests are periodically done to test the hearing capabilities and change our pattern of teaching accordingly. The school has a special speech therapy center which is managed by trained staff. After class XII the students are provided vocational training in the trade of their choice to enable them to work on their own and not be dependent on any one. For the deaf children we also have a marriage bureau service for appropriate match making.
 
    • This School provides FREE special education to Deaf boys and girls. We cater to the poor families of rural areas and villages.
 
    • Patiala School for The Deaf was started in 1967 and has a chequered history of 45 years. What started on an experimental basis is now one of The premier schools for providing special education to Deaf boys and girls in India.
 
    • The Deaf school is from Nursery class to Class XII. The School is Co-Educational and Residential.The school has a vision of total communication being used to teach the Deaf children with latest techniques by trained staff in Sign language, Speech therapy, Computers, Art and Craft of many types, Sports, Extra Curricular activities and much more.
 
    • Our vision is to empower the Deaf Children to be part of the inclusive society and main stream. Be a productive member of the family and earn laurels.

Patiala School for the blind

    • This school is from Nursery to Class XII. It is Co Educational and residential. This is the only residential school for Blind girls in Punjab State of India. School provides totally FREE education to blind boys and girls. No fees of any kind is charged for education, uniform, stationary, meals & hostels.
 
    • School has the latest equipment for the Blind children, including Read IT Wand, which can scan a book, newspaper or magazine and read it aloud to the Blind students. It is easy to operate and Blind friendly.
 
    • The blind students education starts from a well equipped Sensory room. The aim is to first improve the sensory touch of the fingers and also provided them knowledge of each and everything which they are likely to encounter in daily life or otherwise.
 
    • School has a big library with all facilities and good ambience.
 
    • Blind students are given full facility even after Class XII, to do their degree in the colleges.School provides all facilities for sports, cricket, and indoor games.
 
    • Blind children are also put through some Art and craft and vocational training capsules.

Patiala School for The Deafblind

  • This is the third DeafBlind school in India for the children with multiple disability of Visual and Hearing Impairment.
  • The class rooms of DeafBlind children are specially equipped with teaching aids and equipment.
  • The school also has a “PACMATE” so that DeafBlind can read books, newspapers, magazines etc in Braille.
  • The teacher to student ratio is one teacher for every two students and One attendant.

  • Admissions are on basis of first come first serve.
  • Preference is given to girls for admission.
  • Children who are Orphan, from villages and poor families are preferred.
  • Deaf and Blind children, from Age ZERO onwards can also be admitted/provided early Intervention.

The Deaf and Blind schools are not in receipt of any Grant from the Government or from any corporate body. We need to raise finances so that we can provide the best residential education to these deprived children.

How You Can Help
